My daughter, Jane, never dreamed of receiving a letter from a girl of her own age in Holland. Last year, we were travelling across the Channel and Jane put a piece of paper with her name and address on it into a bottle. She threw the bottle into the sea. She never thought of it again, but ten months later, she received a letter from a girl in Holland. Both girls write to each other regularly now. However, they have decided to use the post office. Letters will cost a little more, but they will certainly travel faster.

中文理解：我的女儿简从未想过会接到荷兰一位同龄女孩的来信。 去年，当我们横渡英吉利海峡时，简把写有她姓名和住址的一张纸条装进了一个瓶子里， 又将瓶子扔进了大海。 此后她就再没去想那个瓶子。 但 10个月以后，她收到了一位在荷兰的女孩寄来的信。 现在这两位姑娘定期通信了。 然而她们还是决定通过邮局寄信。 这样会稍微多花点钱，但肯定（是比漂流瓶）快得多了。

* **dreamed of**：梦想或想到 / 彼此；of 后可接 -ing；each other 表示关系是双向的。

#### 1. My daughter dreamed of receiving a letter…

简单句，主谓宾结构，其中dreamed of 可以看作动词短语作谓语，而动名词短语 receiving sth. 则作介词of 的宾语，后面from a girl 是修饰a letter 的定语，而of her own age 以及in Holland 为修饰a girl 的定语.

Jane 是常用的女生名，名著Jane Eyre 就是Eyre 为姓，Jane 为名，所以中文书名 《简·爱》有个“·”.

\[关键句型] 本课学习后面可跟of, from, in 和on 的动词表达，本句的of 需要留意，教材中给出了非常多的动词总结，建议查阅.

#### 2. we were travelling and Jane put a piece of paper…

并列句，前句 we were travelling 是主谓结构，后句 Jane put a piece of paper into a bottle 是主谓宾结构，into a bottle 交代放置的位置。paper 作纸张之意时为不可数名词，要用a piece of 来表达；论文之意时，为可数名词. with 引导的短语教材中已作讲解，此处略.

#### 3. She threw the bottle…

简单句，主谓宾结构.

#### 4. She thought of it, but…, she received a letter.

并列句，这里两个句子中间有连词but，其前后都有逗号，如果没有but 等连词，直接试图用逗号连接两个句子是不合适的.

#### 5. girls write…

简单句，主谓结构.

#### 6. they have decided to use the post office.

简单句，主谓宾结构，谓语动词用了现在完成时，后跟动词不定式短语作宾语. 毕竟“漂流瓶联系”还是不靠谱. 动词不定式短语我们予以细分to use the post office.

#### 7. Letters will cost, but they will travel…

并列句，两句均为主谓结构，也都有副词作状语修饰动词.
